The beautiful images shown here have been created by Colorado artist Bob Maurer of Maurer’s Art Studio. Bob is primarily a watercolor artist but also enjoys using oils, pen, inks and acrylics.
Originally from Brooklyn, this Colorado artist completed his formal art training at the School of Visual Arts in New York. His path led him to his wife Lydia, and in 1959 they moved to Denver, Colorado to start a family. After Bob had a series of interesting careers: art directer of ABC TV, graphic designer for the National Center of Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and Studio 10, his own graphic art studio, they moved to the small town of Lake City.
Upon arriving in Lake City in 1972, Bob and Lydia set upon building a
gallery that would house a studio, classroom, and print shop. This became The Artists Workshop. The
Artists Workshop nurtured young Colorado artists.
Bob teaches watercolor techniques, oils, calligraphy, and drawing. Although Lydia passed on in 2007, she provides Bob with daily inspiration, and in return he sends her his thanks and his love.
Both Bob and Lydia work have received national acclaim and can be found in private and public collections throughout the world.
I love the Rocky Mountain landscape, the changes of the seasons and the people who have and do live on this earth. When the public and patrons respond favorably to my images, I feel I have achieved part of my mission in life. My philosophy is to look at the brighter side of things. When I wake in the morning and kick out of bed, I think 'Fantastic, I hope I can add and not subtract from this world today.’ The humanities, especially art, are being neglected in everyday education. I teach because it is important to pass on my knowledge and experience.
