Everyone uses soap (we hope!)…but, often, conventional soap products can be drying, irritating, containing man made chemicals that many of us can’t pronounce.
Most of us are aware that there are more natural handcrafted soaps, as well as natural organic skin care products, though some of us are hesitant to try them. Sometimes we are not sure whom to purchase from, or just don’t know enough about the benefits of the more natural ingredients. Have you looked into the ingredients in your day cream, for example?
Commercial soaps do the trick of cleaning, but often leave unwanted residues on the skin. Other conventional body care products also work as advertised, but what unknown substances are being absorbed into the bloodstream? We often forget that our skin is the largest organ in our body, and thus is often the most misunderstood or neglected.
It does not occur to us to look into what chemicals we’re taking in, which the liver and other organs must filter out. Only to be repeated 12 hours later, during our bedtime beauty routine! We lather, we tone, we moisturize…all the while, absorbing impurities into our bodies.
We may look great, but how long can we expect to feel great with such a daily practice?
If you have looked at the list of ingredients in your soap and beauty products lately, you know what I am referring to. Long lists of lengthy words for substances with names and origins understandable only by industry chemists.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates very few ingredients used in body care products. Instead, the FDA asks consumers to report incidents, so the agency can then order removal of harmful chemicals from the market.
An obvious alternative to this beauty product experiment is to use cosmetics from verifiable sources using authentic natural organic skin care, herbal treatments or other non-industrial ingredients that you can pronounce and even recognize.
Natural handmade soaps, as well as natural cosmetics and skin care products, are made from essential oils, dried herbs, natural clays, goats’ milk, and/or other naturally occurring, skin-nourishing ingredients.
Since demand is growing, it’s becoming easier to find these alternatives, which often build upon tried-and-true natural herbal solutions.
Who recalls the stirring Herbal Essences Commercial? Yes, oh yes! Remember? Who doesn’t want their soap to give them such an enjoyable reaction?
There are some wonderful products that will honestly make you a believer in that crazy commercial’s message. Consider soaps that provide a rich, creamy, cleansing lather, made with real herbs and essential oils, then mixed, poured and cut by hand by our local Colorado soap makers.
Many of these soap makers also offer great natural organic skin care lines. Just like their natural handcrafted soaps, the organic natural skin care products are filled with Mother Nature’s own skin-nourishing ingredients.
